And all the others leave you unsure.

lanvin toute l'année

today was the start of the lanvin ss '09 trunk show at barneys
it was really nice to see the collection in person, though i was greatly impressed from the pictures.
the sequins/embellishing etc were quite beautiful,
as were the leopard prints!
They also had samples of their denim collaboration with acne, which I'm anticipating not only because of the lower price point, but the unusual use of denim for various pieces of clothing (trench coats and short shorts!).
Another part of the collection that I enjoyed was the t-shirts, which I believe are part of resort.

"I want Lanvin... not flowers..."
I agree.
this is definitely something I could imagine bianca saying.

another beautifully made t-shirt.
and of course, the best part of the trunk show was meeting Alber Elbaz himself.
he has the quote of the day,
"you have big hair and you're a big fan!"

Balenciaga printemps/etè 2009
Happy Rosh Hashana, fashionjews!
This morning, I was on a crazy hunt to see the Balenciaga s/s '09 collection that was shown earlier today in Paris, and boy did I get a new years surprise!!

For anyone that follows menswear or Balenciaga, it's no secret that generally, Nicholas chooses not to include mens in the Balenciaga show, nor does he actually put on a show for the mens collection for menswear week in Paris. This year, he included 7 looks, which in my opinion fit very well into the general collection.
While last season saw a supposed "rebirth" of the mens line, I was underwhelmed seeing the collection in person. The 3-button silver suit was a complete letdown when it arrive last week at Barneys. A size 36 suit should not fit that way, only to appease a pot-bellied man with narrow shoulders (which was, in fact, the only place it fit me). After a completely lack-luster commercial collection for summer '08, which for the most part went to the warehouse sale, I did not expect Barneys to do an incredible buy. I was proven correct when visiting the 22nd street boutique, finding some more interesting pieces, including the $4000 egg-shaped coat that was wait-list only. The rest was hype, fluffed by a large mailer and a spread in V-Man.
So, I do have high hopes for the s/s '09 collection.
This is a man I could truly see with the Balenciaga girl.
Although the womens collection had more color, the color is hidden in the menswear, beneath the jacket in form of ties and perhaps shirts as well. I also hope that they'll have the mens looks at the trunkshow, because I'll be going with Vanessa, she wants a Balenciaga sparkle dress.

fall ahead
I dont know if everyones heard the news,
but today was the start of fall.
And in my opinion, there was no better way to celebrate this than wearing my Lanvin mille feuille bowtie and going to the last day of the San Gennaro festival in little Italy. My stomach is filled to the brim with pasta, cannoli, and fried oreos :)
Hearing the words "today was the official start of fall" brought some thoughts through my head (besides the obvious "today is the last day you can wear your Jil Sander canvas sandals"...) What did I accomplish over the summer? I know this is supposed to be my style blog, but I wanna go off on some other tangents occasionally! I took 2 summer classes and started a great new job.
But there was no summer romance.
Sure, there was the 8 hour date with E (the one who won't wear t-shirts)
the friendship I messed up with the other E (of course that one was all my fault)
and most importantly, my party fling with patrick and bianca, with whome I had amazing times with in l.e.s. and williamsburg. So in that sense I supposed I accomplished a bit. I'll start the fall as a new Jason, atleast partially, and I'll take it from there.
sorry for the blurry picture.

brunch and rain
This morning I had brunch with the lovely M at pastis.
Because of train problems, I was 15 minutes late,
which was fortunate for us, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten...

YSL Manifesto + tote bag!
apparently only 5000 of these were given out across the world today.

Jean Paul approves.
After pastis we headed to Jeffrey, Helmut Lang and then Balenciaga.
put a really hot shirt on hold...might go back for it on Monday.
Ah, and to end on a light note,

Last night while we were closing, a mannequin fell over.
I just reaaally needed to take a pic and post it.

time square has day light at 10PM
Although today was a normal day at work,
The lovely M took me to the fashion & contemporary art party at christie's auction house.
It was pretty nice, and thankfully networking ensued.
Also, I treated myself to one of the new Alexander Wang bags that I've had my eye on (...every day I've been at work for the past 2 weeks). The bags are pretty fab, and they're going fast. It was a perfect day to buy it since I needed a small bag to take out with me at night.
So as for tonights look,
(I wore this to work minus the bag, vest and tie/scarf)

button down shirt by Esprit
vest by Forever 21
scarf/tie by Lanvin
jeans by American Apparel
shoes by Lanvin
bag by Alexander Wang

detail shot

side detail shot (love the little burst of red from my ipod :P)

shoe detail shot (first time wearing them..they hurt like a BITCH :T)

the bag
oh yah
enjoy fashion week everyone!!

what would jason wear: on the job edition
Today I bring you photos that my lovely coworker L took of me on the job.
I blurred the background for obvious/legal reasons, besides you all know where I work.

tada.
button down by Energy
Jeans by Zara.
Boots are Gianni Barbato
I have to say I love the fit of those jeans except for the waist...Zara's smallest size for men is a 30 so they're pretty big through the crotch...
I got my naisl painted today/mini manicure!
I'm very into the color, it's a metalic charcoal/blue.
I forgot the brand though, I'll check on thursday...
and for laughs,

went to Yaffa with B after work for dinner.

long day in the city
hi all,
I was fortunate enough to have 2 extra hours this morning to decide what to wear since i just threw on some jeans and a tshirt to go to the doctor/bank in the am.
It was so cool out when I left, but by the time I walked home it was hot, so I decided on shorts.

white button down by Diesel
shorts by h&m
scarf/tie Lanvin
Jil Sander sandals return
I really thought this outfit was cute in contrast to the colorful stuff I usually wear. I'd like to start wearing more smart looks, so I'm considering investing in some nice button down shirts. This kind of look reminds me of a "friend", E, who "doesn't wear t-shirts", or text me to hang out, for that matter.
I dragged my new friend N around soho today to shop.
My first destination was the new Jil Sander store, which, as I discovered is the only store that bought the marble stuff from the fall/winter '08 collection. I would have diiied for those marble jeans, but they're sold out in my size. So by all means, if you're a 31 waist, grab them before they're gone. In addition, if you haven't been to the store yet, please try to, it's across from Opening Ceremony.
Next was 3.1 Philip Lim to by a shirt I knew I wanted.

We have it at Barneys, but only in an olive color, but I liked this one much more.
Also picked up these cute pillow cases at urban outfitters!

Post #2 is the 2nd most awkward
of course my last day at PRC was enjoyable, albeit a lil boring.
I knew I wanted to wear the Jil Sander sandals I picked up at the Barneys warehouse sale on Sunday, so todays outfit was built on that.

I also knew I wanted to wear them with my black aa jeans. It was a very warm, sunny day today so I played up the whole black and white motif with a single pocket Margiela t-shirt and my elephant necklace.

finished look:

Last minute to give a little color and to bring in some inorganic to the very natural black/white, I threw my stuff in a sapphire lamè bag.

post #1 is the most awkward
Today on my way home from work, in anticipation of starting this blog, I was typing away taking notes on my sidekick (to quote DMM, "people with sidekicks are not popular) about topics I wanted to discuss. This has been something I've wanted to start for a while now, not only to catalog my daily and favorite looks, but inspirations, designs and opinions on current fashion and style events.
Tomorrow is my last day at the internship that may have changed my life.
For the past year I've been working at PR Consulting, a fashion, beauty and lifestyle PR firm. I've had the opportunity to work for some great people and to handle the samples of Balenciaga, Dries Van Noten, Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander and more. It's the thing in my life that opened my eyes and made me sure I wanted to be involved in fashion, somehow. And although everyone knows that fashion internships can be tedious, it really changed something in me. I'll miss it a lot.
and away from the more serious,
Today after work I went down to the cosmetics floor to visit my friend. We were bored. I painted my nails.
My thumb and pointer finger are painted with Chanel blue velvet.

my ring finger is painted with some sparkly pinkish color, and my pinky with a deep plum both by YSL. I did those ones just to show my best friend M ;-) I think she'll really appreciate them.

nail polish is not for me.
but I really do see it work for some super fashion forward guys. So why don't I like it for myself??
Maybe it's my stubby fingers. or that I bite my nails a loooot.
The last part of my post would normally be when I show you guys what I wore/bought today. But I was super lazy. I wore my I O Tokyo tshirt, rag & boner jeans and tied a fucking h&m scarf around my waist and called it a day. But tomorrow I promise much better :D
So for now, heres my "best of Jason"

this is 2 weeks ago for P's bday at 205. I love this Dries Van Noten shirt!! It's a lot more pink than in the pic. Sadly I couldn't find a pic where you can see the pants I wore, but they're Diesel. I'll wear them often.

This was taken during my class at parsons, we went on a shoot for lula magazine. I sat on a truck...and we had our own little shoot :P vneck is american apparel of course. Shorts by Diesel, and sandals Balenciaga.

this is what I wore on new years 2008. I just thought it was cute...pants are Diesel. Button down shirt is Esprit (I know, right??). H&M suspenders. Sneakers are Alessandro Dell'Acqua.

and this is my artistic photo of the summer. I took this when I went to a concert with P and B in Williamsburg. It's my corn on the cobb, ashes and my lovely mules from Esperanza that I got in Tokyo in summer '06. Oh the memories of one summer...
that took a lot longer than i thought it would!!!
<3,
Jason.
